5 minutes ... that’s it! You get the sensation of grilled asparagus without having to go near a hot grill (or brave the rain in my case!). Any leftovers are great added into an omelet, salad or pasta ... if there are any - and likely there won’t be!

Char-Broiled Asparagus
Oh what fun can be had when you were set on having grilled asparagus for dinner and the rain decides to pour down out of nowhere --- leaving puddles and steam pouring off the pavement!
Ok.
So - wash, dry and trim your asparagus (snap the woody ends off).
Preheat your Broiler to HIGH. And find a good pan to use. I used my cast iron “fajita pan” - but any heavy heat-proof dish will do (not glass or ceramic!).
Instead of using oil, I sprayed my veggies with a butter flavored non-stick cooking spray ... and sprinkled them generously with kosher salt. The non-stick spray worked great.
After 3 minutes, I gave my asparagus a little toss with my tongs and put them back under the broiler for another 2 minutes ... perfection.
If you’re asparagus are thicker than mine - check them every minute after 5 minutes have initially passed.
I topped my asparagus with caramelized onions ... (another post coming soon) ... and there wasn’t a single veggie spear left!
Next time I’m going to top my asparagus with a little Lemon Garlic Compound Butter ... hehehehe ... ENJOY!
